Yesterday, my house got flooded

The title is self-explanatory. Yesterday, my house got flooded. Like, really. My house has been undergoing this major renovation for a few weeks now (I've been suffering weeks worth of drilling and hammering and it won't be stopping anytime soon. =.=) and basically, because of all the holes and gaps that all the renovation works has caused, whenever it rains really BAD (like yesterday), my house runs a risk of being flooded. And unfortunately, it did. During my last trip to Penang, a really nice uncle of mine gave me a new camera so because of that, I managed to get a few pics of the sticky, uh I mean, wet situation in my house

Okay, maybe it's not so clear in the pic, but there's actually a LOT of water on the floor. Notice, the cloth on the floor there?

More water, more cloths. Pity my dad. The areas which the water managed to get in were where all his stereos, hi-fis and amplifiers were placed so we (uh, I mean the rest of my family) were rushing like mad to save them.

The cause of the flood! Its actually this small hole in the wall halfway up my staircase. The contractors drilled too deep or something and accidentally caused this hole. No biggie really, cos the wall's gonna get torn down soon anyway, but who would have thought that it would've caused such a big problem. Yep, all the water that came into the house was from here. Apparently the renovation was done in such a way that water can collect on the outside and flow in through here. My dad had to call the contractor over to fix it so that the water would stop collecting and hence, stop the flow. It was partly our fault though for not noticing it sooner (we only noticed when half the house was flooded) or we would have stopped the flow. See the wet trails there? It was coming down like a waterfall. Really.

There. See the wet trail? This is underneath my stairs where the water flowed in all over the floor and halfway across the house. Initially, there were lots of files and boxes under here but we had to save them before it all got wet.

Alas, some of the casualties. A wet, er, box. Dunno wat's inside though. Probably more of my dad's amplifiers or something.

Here are the things we had to move from under the stairs. They're all stereos and amplifiers. Fortunately they weren't spoilt or my dad would have had a field day with the contractor.

This is the first thing my mum saved when we noticed the flood. ^^;; It's supposed to be a dog-vase-flower pot named Bobby (notice the hollow back?) Lol. Its made of ceramic and wouldn't have been damaged in any way by the water (unlike my dad's electrical stuff) but yeah, this was the first thing she saved >.<

Thus, after all the hard work of cleaning up the mess in my house (with the exception of me. I didn't do anything. I didn't clean up, and it wasn't even me taking the pics. Lazy bum), we went to have dinner at Roadhouse Grill. Yays~ After trying out The Ship, Victoria Station, Chilis, Fridays and this place, I conclude that I like Fridays the best. Followed by The Ship. Yeah, I'm a fan of steaks and grills. Yum. Will be trying out a place called Colloseum next. =.=
